Pit Bull Advocacy Through Holiday Giving - Kennel to Couch

As the weather gets colder, and the days become shorter and darker, we realize that the holiday season is upon us. Halloween is the gateway to Thanksgiving, and turkey day the kick off to Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and New Years. It is a time to cherish and be thankful for the good, and give to others so they can share in the good as well. This year, why not give for Pit Bull advocacy?

A brief review of Pit Bull history begins in the 1800’s, when the British began to breed Bull Dogs to fight bulls for sport. In America, the 1980’s brought about a resurgence of dog fighting and ever since, Pit Bulls have been misrepresented, stereotyped, and feared by society. Pit Bull advocacy groups have been working tirelessly to end the stigmas surrounding Pit Bulls such as that they are inherently aggressive, have locking jaws, or have stronger bite pressure than other dogs. Kennel to Couch (K2C) is a Maryland-based Pit Bull advocacy group whose mission is to team with shelters and community partners to remove Pit Bulls, particularly those at risk of euthanasia, from shelters and provide the support and incentives needed to encourage their adoption.

Holidays are a perfect time to support important missions, such as those of K2C and other animal rescue nonprofits. December is not only Christmas month, but also the month of Giving Tuesday, “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 3, 2019.”  The simple idea behind Giving Tuesday is that it is dedicated to encouraging people to do good. Pit Bull advocacy groups need your generosity to support sheltered dogs, fund their adoption sponsorship programs, and to educate the public on Pit Bull myths, truths, and needs.

So, how can you help make a difference? In place of Black Friday shopping, long lines at the mall, and spending on material goods, give the gift that keeps on giving by donating to Pit Bull advocacy. We challenge you to make a gift in honor of someone or in their name, to help support Pit Bulls in need during the holiday season. Becoming a recurring monthly donor for pit bull advocacy nonprofits like Kennel to Couch can show you how just $5 a month can make a real impact. Other ways to help are by starting a Facebook charity fundraiser for Kennel to Couch, and sharing with your network. This holiday season, for the dog lovers in your life, give them a gift that will really touch their hearts. Most importantly, give a gift that will help bring Pit Bulls from Kennel to Couch in their FUR-ever homes.
